The Castle Hill National Park preserves the French and English fortifications from the late 1600s.
Climb among the history of an old French/English fort on the hill overlooking Placentia. An interpretive center built behind the ruins will give you the early history of the fighting that occurred to protect the Placentia area. The center also has a gift shop selling local crafts and art. You can either hike the hill as the early settlers did, or drive to the edge of the ruins.
Castle Hill National Park is within minutes of Rosedale Manor. Considered a key military strategic location it has gone through a series of upgrades throughout the years. In 1968 this area became a Canadian National Park.
